The English School Community of Luanda, Angola, (E.S.C.O.L.A.) is an English-medium, interdenominational, independent school catering for both boys and girls. For the past 21 years we have strived to offer every child who enters our school an education which will allow them to achieve to the best of their ability. There are currently 187 students at E.S.C.O.L.A.

The curriculum is based on the South African CAPS curriculum, which has been adapted to reflect a more international context.

We offer face-to-face classes from Pre-Primary 2 to Grade 9. E.S.C.O.L.A. has partnered with IVA Global Online School to allow students to continue after Grade 9 and complete their schooling with IGCSE, AS, and A levels. Students come to school but attend lessons online.

E.S.C.O.L.A. is a member of ISASA (Independent Schools Association of Southern Africa) who is a member of INISA (Network of Independent School Associations).

The Mission of The English School Community of Luanda, Angola (E.S.C.O.L.A.) is to provide, through the medium of English, a student-centred education of the highest calibre that is holistically relevant in the southern African and international context.

E.S.C.O.L.A. is committed to:

  • Developing the unique individuality of each student to their maximum potential in any given sphere;

  • Developing and maintaining effective communication and respect between and amongst the school administration, students, teachers, parents, and wider school community;

  • Encouraging and developing self-directed and experiential learning skills;
  • Encouraging and developing lifelong learning patterns;
  • Fostering critical and creative thinking, problem solving, risk taking, and decision-making;
  • Providing a firm base for students to become caring, principled, open-minded, and well-balanced citizens of the world;
  • Developing self-motivated, successful, and knowledgeable students who will freely gain admission to other international educational institutions at all appropriate levels;
  • Respecting and honouring the historical and cultural background of Angola by recognizing its heritage and public holidays
