Jeannine Manuel School is a bilingual (English-French), international school in Bloomsbury, London. With 50 nationalities currently represented in our student body, we are proud to welcome pupils from all countries, cultural traditions and native languages.
Everything we do is driven by our mission: to "promote international understanding through the bilingual education of a multicultural community of students, the fostering of pedagogical innovation, and the constant exploration of best practices in the context of an ever changing global environment."
To achieve that, our curriculum is based on an enriched version of the international sections programmes of the French Ministry of Education. The English, Science and Chinese programmes were developed by our Paris sister school, a UNESCO associated school founded in 1954 and consistently recognised as a top French Lycée in national rankings. In History, the curriculum is complemented so pupils gain a coherent knowledge and understanding of Britain's past and that of the wider world.
Bilingualism is central to our identity. Classes are taught equally in English and French, and we welcome non-French speakers at all levels and beginners in English up to Year 7. Our aim is to bring pupils to a native proficiency – oral and written – in both languages.
Coherence and innovation drive our pedagogy. Inspired by current research in cognitive sciences and by best practices from around the world or designed by our school's pedagogues, our teaching methods aim to make pupils think, dare, share and care.
In Sixth Form, students take either the International French Baccalaureate ("BFI") or the International Baccalaureate ("IB"), leading them to receiving offers from top universities across the globe. Jeannine Manuel School is currently ranked the #1 French school abroad (among schools with 500–1,000 students) and #2 in the UK among small-cohort IB schools.
