Founded in 2003, Shenzhen College of International Education (SCIE) was the first high school to offer an international curriculum in Shenzhen, China. It delivers (I)GCSE, AS, AL and AP courses to both day and boarding students who have undergone a rigorous and highly selective admissions process. In 2024, the Year 10 acceptance rate was 15%.
SCIE students are well-rounded, compassionate and highly-driven. They learn and thrive in an international and challenging environment, developing social responsibility, creativity, independence and enthusiasm during their four years at the College. Academically, their passion for learning, commitment and resilience have brought them the highest accolades in external examinations. In the Cambridge Assessment International Education IGCSE, AS and AL summer exams 2024, 35 SCIE students received 'Top in the World', 12 'Top in China' and 4 students received 'High Achievement'. In total, 51 students from SCIE received Outstanding Cambridge Learner Awards, accounting for one-fifth of the total awardees nationwide (265 individuals), outperforming all other CAIE schools in China. Over the 17 years, SCIE students have won 177 global firsts and 207 Chinese firsts in individual subjects and overall scores, and the total number of awards has reached 430.
Beyond the classroom, SCIE students have equally impressive achievements, especially in competitive events that challenge them to contribute to the wider community. In 2024, SCIE students achieved remarkable success in several prestigious international mathematics competitions. In the British Mathematical Olympiad BMO Round 1, the student earned a Global Gold Medal and a Global Bronze Medal, with 89 students advancing to Round 2. In the AMC 10/12, 49 students made the Honor Roll of Distinction, and 349 students qualified for the AIME. In the UKMT-SMC, 11 students won the Global Gold Medal, and 80 students received the same honor. Furthermore, our students have demonstrated their diverse talents in other academic fields such as chemistry and physics, securing numerous global awards in Olympiad competitions. Our iGEM team also delivered an outstanding performance, earning a top global award and recognition in specific categories. In addition to academics, SCIE students showcased exceptional skills and determination in both international and domestic sports events in Malaysia, Thailand, and Hainan, China. They achieved outstanding results in football, volleyball, basketball, and badminton, truly reflecting the breadth of interests and excellence of SCIE students across different fields and their continuous pursuit of excellence.
SCIE graduates attend leading universities in the world. With 41 Oxbridge offers this year, the College has maintained its position as the school in China with the highest number of Oxbridge offers for 20 consecutive years. Along with top US university offers including from Ivy League, SCIE celebrates another exceptional cohort that will join the alumni network: one that has been contributing to our world in both arts and sciences.
