UWC Maastricht (UWCM) in the Netherlands is part of United World Colleges, a global network of 18 international schools and colleges working for peace and a sustainable future (see all UWC schools at uwc.org/schools). The school is part of the Dutch public education system and receives funding from the Dutch government.

Inside the Classroom

UWC Maastricht offers education from ages 4 to 19 and is a fully authorised International Baccalaureate (IB) school. It provides the Primary Years Programme, the Middle Years Programme and the Diploma and Career-related Programmes. This holistic and connected approach across all year levels helps students grow into reflective thinkers, ready to shape their own future and contribute to the world around them. The curriculum includes Dutch, Spanish, German, Italian, Arabic, World Arts and Cultures, Global Politics, Visual Arts, Film and Music alongside other subjects.

Outside the Classroom

In addition to academics, UWC Maastricht emphasises social impact. Students take part in action-oriented courses, social entrepreneurship and community service. They learn how to recognise problems and injustices and how to take initiative. They also organise and lead events and conferences to engage more deeply with local and global issues. With over 100 nationalities represented on campus, there are always diverse perspectives and vibrant discussions.

Campus and Facilities

The UWCM campus is near the city centre and is bordered by sports fields, a nature reserve and modern housing. Residential students live in three buildings with three floors each and every floor has six rooms. Each room houses four students from different countries. Shared spaces include a common room, study room, laundry and kitchenette. Each floor is supported by a Residence Mentor who lives nearby.
